Copper Sky Admissions

We know that choosing a school for your child is a big commitment, especially for children with unique learning needs. This is why all prospective students and families participate in our 3-Step Enrollment Process which includes: parent interview, lead instructor meeting (with parents and child present), and shadow day. If after completing all of the steps, it is determined that we are a good fit for your child and family, we will proceed with our Enrollment Agreement. Check out the FAQs below for more information about our school. If you have further questions, want to enroll and/or are interested in learning more about us, you can contact our Program Director, Tara Boyd, directly via email at tara@copperskyacademy.com. You can also fill out the brief Let's Connect form at the bottom of this page and she will contact you.
Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs)

How many students are enrolled at the school?
Currently, we have 8 students enrolled at the school and 7 more are coming in this fall 2025.
How many students will be in each class?
Our school will reach maximum capacity with 30 students. Our plan is to have 3 classrooms of 10 children each: Lower Elementary, Middle Elementary, and Upper Elementary.
What are the age ranges of your current students?
We are a Kindergarten to 8th grade school. Our current student roster includes children ranging from 6 to 13 years old.
Do you enroll students in the middle of the school year?
Yes. We admit children at any time during the school year provided we have an opening.
How do you accommodate children if they are working at different skill levels compared to other children in their class?
We use Differentiated Instruction (DI) so that each child works at their own pace within a given subject area. Within this framework, our students receive 1:1 and small group, personalized instruction according to their skill level, learning style, and/or preferred learning environment. Our students receive quarterly formal assessments and regular informal assessments throughout the school year to measure progress. The curriculum is adjusted as needed to meet the specific needs of each child.
Do you assign homework?
We aim to provide your child with personalized instruction that allows them to learn both effectively and efficiently during the school day. That way, the hours after school can be dedicated to extracurricular activities and/or family time. However, when appropriate and requested, we are happy to assign or suggest homework assignments.
Do you issue report cards?
No. We provide families with progress reports to document and highlight the progress each child is making in their unique learning journey. This approach is rooted in our understanding that our typical student works at their own pace, often with skills spanning various grade levels. For instance, a child might be reading at a 4th-grade level and doing math at a 7th-grade level. Assigning grades based on age or traditional grade-level expectations wouldn't accurately reflect their individual development.
If you do not issue report cards, will this be an issue if my child transfers to another school?
While we maintain high academic standards and provide quarterly reports with test scores, we do not provide traditional report cards or issue credits. However, within reason and with advance notice, we can work with you to customize documentation to adhere to policies and criteria of academic institutions your child may attend in the future.
Once my child finishes 8th grade at your school, what is the process for transitioning to high school?
Most of our current families are thinking ahead and are unsure of what the future holds regarding high school. While we do not currently offer high school, we understand our students need options. We are actively working on a plan to provide high school options for our students in the future.
